What women who have done alabastron have to say

After 15 Years Working In The Corporate World

When I first heard about Alabastron (through my church - Mavuno Kampala), I was skeptical yet curious at the same time. After 15 years working in the corporate world, I have done my fair share of courses with the more recent ones particularly targeted at women in leadership. So it was with a certain level of arrogance fuelled by curiosity, that I enrolled and attended one of the catch up sessions since I had missed the open day. After the first class I realized that this was like no other course I had done.

By nature, I am a leader and I thrive on focusing on others both at work and in my personal life. As a first born child I have always had that sense of responsibility for my younger ones instilled in me so now, having to look inward and start to work on myself was a huge challenge. The topics covered were very significant and touched me on a very deep level as I had alot of things buried deep which I now needed to confront and overcome. I realised that my usual excuses of being too busy or not having time were no longer valid...I had to face my demons and change alot of negative behaviours that had become the norm in my life.   .. having to look inward and start to work on myself was a huge challenge. After about 3 weeks of Alabastron classes I came to realise that God had timed this course perfectly for me, it wasn't something I had stumbled upon by chance! I used to be a professional procrastinator, leaving things to the last moment. I also finally acknowledged that I was a certified people pleaser with no boundaries and yet I often felt used and frustrated at the way some people took advantage of this.   I have now learned to put myself first and value my time a lot more. Before, I only had one mirror in my house because I hated looking at myself, now I feel alot more confident...I am a Queen, fearfully and beautifully created in God's image! I have since bought myself a full length mirror for my bedroom so that I can look at myself properly and admire God's handiwork. Alabastron also taught me how to read the bible in a very personalized manner which adds even more power and meaning to the text.

Although our classes have ended, I believe I am still a work in progress but having walked this journey I now know how to spot negative behaviour patterns and how to prayerfully address them and change for the better.   I now know how to spot negative behaviour patterns and how to prayerfully address them and change for the better. I would strongly recommend Alabastron Renewing Self course to all women of all ages because regardless of our status or education, we all have our faults and weaknesses but by faith and prayer and with the support of other women experiencing the same issues, it is possible to change and become empowered and confident Queens!
